REASI: Taking action against illegal mining, District Police Reasi seized 27 vehicles including 9 excavators involved in illegal mining and arrested 18 persons.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Amit Gupta, six cases of illegal mining were registered at Police Station Reasi and 18 vehicles were seized. Fourteen persons were arrested for illegal mining identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Shanker Singh of Sewna Chenani Udhaipur, Suram Chand, son of Girdhari Lal of Bhagga Seela, Arif Khan, son of Mohd Iqbal of Kalakote Rajouri, Mir Hussain, son of Qasam Din of Talwara, Jugal Kumar, son of Diwan Chand of Khinyari, Govind, son of Krishan Lal of Khanyari Tehsil Pouni, Purab Singh, son of Kartar Singh of Sanghad Tehsil Pouni, Raj Kumar, son of Chaman Lal of Bhamla, Ajit Singh, son of Dharam Singh of Ransoo, Mohd Arif, son of Mohd Amir Khan of Azmabad Tehsil Mandi District Poonch, Kashmir Singh, son of Mohan Singh of Bandrai Sunderbani, Kayam Din, son of Mohd Sharief of Latti Udhampur, Karpal Singh, son of Janak Singh of Bantalab and Sunny Kumar, son of Sham Lal of Serwad Katra.
“Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Arnas seized 3 vehicles involved in illegal mining and arrested three persons, who were identified as Tariq Ahmed, son of Abdul Majid of Garhi Arnas, Rashpal Singh, son of Punjabu Ram of Salal and Ajay Sharma, son of Bal Krishan of Akhnoor.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Arnas and investigation is in progress”, SSP added.
“However, a team from Police Station Mahore seized five vehicles involved in illegal mining and registered a case under relevant Sections against the offenders”, SSP Amit Gupta informed.
“In another similar case, a team from Police Station Katra seized a vehicle involved in illegal mining and arrested one person, who was identified as Sajad Ahmed, son of Gafar Ahmed of Terin Meyari Tehsil Katra”, SSP maintained.
SSP Reasi Amit Gupta further said that District Police Reasi is committed for protecting the public property and ‘Rights of Consumer’ and enforcing genuine rates of goods and services in the jurisdiction.
Police is also committed to eradicate the menace of illegal mining and other mining related issues in the area, SSP added.
