Chattiegarh chief Minister’s office on saturday stated that sub-inspector KK Sahu was suspended after the death of a man when an SUV was mowed down people at a religious procession in Pathalgaon in Jashpur district.

The Pathalgaon TI line has been attached for negligence.

The incident took place around 1 pm on Friday when residents of Bazarpara locality had taken out a procession for the immersion of Goddess Durga idols.

Gaurav Agrawal (21) died in the incident, while 17 people suffered injuries.

Two occupants of the SUV, Bablu Vishwakarma (21) and Shishupal Sahu (26), natives of Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh, were later arrested from the outskirts of the town.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday evening announced Rs 50 lakh compensation to the family of Gaurav Agarwal who was killed when an SUV mowed down people at a religious procession at Pathalgaon in Jashpur district.

After the incident, angry locals torched several vehicles. The car driver was also thrashed. The locals went to Pathalgaon police station to protest the incident. They alleged that the vehicle concerned was filled with ganja.
