Kashmir shivers under sub-zero temperature, Srinagar records season’s coldest night.

Most places in Kashmir valley recorded sub-zero temperature while Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, had season’s coldest night so far on Saturday.

A meteorological department official said that mercury settled at 0.1°C against previous night’s 0.7°C in Srinagar. The temperature is below minus 1.1°C than the normal for this time of the year in the city and was lowest so far this season, the official said.

Also fog engulfed many parts including the city as a consequence of which vehicles moved with head-lights on during the morning.

Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a minimum of minus 2.0°against minus 0.6°C on the previous night, the official said.

Leh recorded a low of minus 7.1°C against last night’s minus 7.0°C while mercury settled at minus 3.2°C against minus 1.9°C last night in Kargil, the official said.

The MeT office has said that the weather shall remain dry for at least November 19 in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
