RAJOURI: The Army averted a major fire incident in the Kotranka Market of Rajouri district, a defence spokesman said on Monday.PRO Defence Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand said, “Today at around 8.50am, Indian Army at Samote received an SOS call from an ex-service man (ESM), Naib Sub Kabir Khan running an electrical shop in Kotranka Market, about a massive fire incident near Sharma Sweet and Ice Cream Shop at Kotranka Market.””Acting swiftly, the firefighting team from the Army Unit was rushed to the incident site alongwith requisite equipment and water bowser,” he said.Col Anand said, “The Indian Army Fire Fighting Team quickly analysed the situation and were able to efficiently contain the fire along with the locals and GREF personnel. Timely and coordinated action of all present helped in containing the fire and prevented its spread to nearby shops thus avoiding a major catastrophe.”Col Anand said, “A relieved Awaam (locals) expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciated the timely assistance in extinguishing the fire and averting a major tragedy.” |
