In the wake of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan resorted to indiscriminate artillery firing and heavy shelling on the villages along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan’s intent in targeting civilian infrastructure was to create panic and fear among innocent civilians — many of whom also happen to be India’s first line of defence.
As tensions between India and Pakistan escalated by the hour, a drive from Srinagar to the distant villages of Baramulla and Kupwara districts bore signs of ravaged homes, injured civilians, and devasted civilian infrastructure.
Many villagers along the LoC were defiant even in the face of constant shelling by the Pakistani Army.
They dared Pakistani army to engage in direct combat with Indian armed forces, and wanted the Modi government to bring back POK or deliver “final solution.”
