JAMMU : Senior BJP leader Incharge BJP HQ and former minister Priya Sethi on Tuesday termed the Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as ‘groundbreaking’, ‘transformational’ and ‘growth oriented’ with thrust on ‘inclusive development’.
Hailing the painstaking effort by the Finance Minister, the former minister said that whopping Rs 11,832 crore for Education Department will change the course of the Union Territory as still there is lot to do to plug the gap by creating adequate edifice for providing quality education at the doorsteps.
She said that the amount segregated for the education will go a long way in making the youth ready for becoming the meaningful citizens and ardent nation builders, the thing which has much relevance in J&K. She underscored the need to remain optimistic as growth oriented budget is likely to propel growth as never before with prediction of 7.5 percent.
“Infrastructure development is another promising feature of this budget with allocating money to accomplish the long pending Kashmir Rail project and also giving pace to metro schedule in both Jammu and Srinagar”, Sethi said, adding that Fin Min has also focused on fortifying PRIs and ILBs through sparing colossal amount to be kept at the disposal of DDCs, BDCs, JMC and SMC.
“Provision of Rs 200 crore for capitalization of J&K bank is another milestone in the growth of UT besides 100 crore marked for festival promotion, which will help in boosting tourism, the mainstay of J&K economy”, she said, adding that J&K is grateful for such a plentiful budget to transform old cities into smart cities and helping vacant land chunks to emerge as industrial hubs.
“With focus given to industrial growth the budget will also help resolve the burning issue of unemployment besides making security edifice robust with Home also getting lion’s share”, she said and expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and Finance Minister for envisaging so much for the growth and development of J&K.
