Nature Club in collaboration with NSS unit of GCOE celebrated the Earth Day

JAMMU: NSS unit of Government College of Education enthusiastically participated in various activities to commemorate our benevolent Mother Earth. On the occasion of Earth Day, an array of creative activities was organised with a view to sensitise the children about the conservation of natural resources and to motivate them to do their bit towards making their planet even more beautiful.

The day was celebrated in order to spread awareness about the conservation of nature and Mother Earth in collaboration with Nature Club, GCOE.

The event was started with a speech given by NSS Programme Officer, Dr Shubhra Jamwal on how we should conserve our earth and Mother Nature.


Dr Shalini Sharma, the convenor of Nature Club, appreciated the efforts of NSS volunteers and said that we should try and plant trees, keep wet waste and dry waste separate in order to make way for easy decomposition.

After that a small tree plantation event started where all NSS volunteers planted one plant of their names and promised to water it everyday for helping the nature.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour, praised the efforts of all the volunteers and asked them to thank the Mother Earth for all its bountiful gifts in the form of all flora, fauna, and beautiful landscapes.

Prof. Anju Bala was the special guest of the occasion. She emphasised the only remedy to control the degradation is to grow more and more trees and also to adopt protective measures where the denudation of forests is going on and called for strict enforcement of policies and regulations for cutting down trees.

After that , dustbin installation programme was stared in the college premises.

Dr Tahira Shah, Prof Sunita Devi, Prof Vinaylata, Prof Seema Kumari, Prof Sarita Dogra, and Prof Shapia Shameem Bhatti also graced the occasion by planting trees in the college.

At the end of the program , all were pledge to do as much as possible and less degradation.
