Police has arrested a thief and recovered Rs two lakh cash, which was stolen from one Farangi Singh of Sailanjan, Tehsil Thakrakote when he was travelling in a minibus on September 30.
After a complaint of missing cash was lodged with Police Station Reasi, Police team swung into action and zeroed upon some suspects. With the help CCTV footage it was found that one suspect was following the complainant and had also boarded the same vehicle. After hectic efforts, the suspect was identified as Mohd Yousaf, son of Mohd Hussain of Mahadev Reasi, who is operating a Rehari at Bus Stand Reasi.
Police team rounded up the suspect and put him to sustained questioning to which Mohd Yousaf confessed that he had stolen the bag alongwith money from the vehicle that day. On his disclosure Police team recovered the bag alongwith cash from his home.
According to Police, Farangi Singh is a handicapped person with his one arm is not functioning properly and on that day he took the help of Mohd Yousaf for payment of the vegetables purchased by him. After finding money in the bag of the complainant, he followed him in the minibus and after getting a chance fled away with the bag.
