Reduction in terrorist-related incidents, stone pelting in Jammu and Kashmir: Army Commander.

SRINAGAR: There has been a reduction in terrorist-related incidents as a result of the tireless efforts of security forces and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief, northern command, Lt Gen YK Joshi said on Saturday.

The Army Commander was speaking at the northern command investiture ceremony at its headquarters in J&K’s Udhampur.

Calling 2021 a watershed year for the armed forces, Lt General Joshi said that the troops at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh displayed boldness in standing up to the aggressive designs.

He also presented GOC-in-C’s appreciation to 40 units and the GOC-in-C’s Certificates of Appreciation’ to 26 units for their overall ‘outstanding’ and ‘distinguished’ performance in the command theatre.

The Army Commander also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the brave men who laid down their lives in internal security challenges.

In December last year, J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh had informed that a total of 182 terrorists, including 44 of their top commanders and 20 foreigners, were eliminated in 100 successful anti-terror operations by Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces in the Union Territory in 2021.
