NEW DELHI: India’s star javelin thrower and Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra is among this year’s Param Vishisht Seva Medal awardees, sources said on Tuesday.
Subedar Neeraj Chopra belongs to the 4 Rajputana Rifles. He won India’s only gold medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games last year, becoming the country’s first track and field athlete to strike gold at the Olympics.
Sources said his name was on the list of people who would receive the prestigious award given to military men for exceptional peace-time service.
