SRINAGAR: A moderate intensity earthquake jolted Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday around 5:35 am and the tremors were felt in Srinagar and several parts of the Valley.
An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit the state. However, no report of any casualties or damage to property has been received yet.
An official of the disaster management authority said, “The epicentre of the earthquake was in the Gorno-Badakhshan area of Tajikistan. Its coordinates are latitude 37.49 degrees north and longitude 71.85 degrees east.”
“It occurred 108 km inside the earth’s crust,” the statement further read.
