Ukraine agrees to hold talks with Russia at Belarus border

KYIV: Ukraine has agreed to hold talks with Russia at the Belarus border, the Ukraine presidency was cited as saying by AFP.The talks will be held near the Chernobyl exclusion zone.According to reports, the agreement for talks is a result of a phone call conversation between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Belarus President, Alexander Lukashenko.It was agreed that the Ukrainian delegation would meet with the Russian delegation without preconditions on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, near the Pripyat River.Lukashenko has taken responsibility for ensuring that all planes, helicopters and missiles stationed on Belarusian territory remain on the ground during the Ukrainian delegation’s travel, talks and return.The development comes after Russia had earlier sent a delegation to Belarus and said it was ready to start peace negotiations with Ukraine in Gomel city, Ukraine’s President Zelensky had rejected Moscow’s offer.
